Role Description:

The Grocery Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functions specific to the Grocery department and ensures that the department runs smoothly and effectively. The Grocery Department encompasses Grocery Proper, Refrigerated/Frozen, and Bulk. The Grocery Supervisor directs and oversees all department staff and oversees department operation's that includes ensuring proper department merchandising and product quality. The Supervisor is also responsible for exemplifying and providing genuine and compassionate "extra mile" hospitality to our guests.

Shift:

Full-time position (37-40 hours per week).

Tues/Thurs/Saturday - Start time between 5-8am

Wed & Friday - Flexible start time

Requirements

  • Leadership
o Leads, coaches, motivates and inspires all department staff

o Builds a team through mutual trust, respect and coordination

o Acts as a positive role model for all staff

o Facilitates knowledge of product lines by providing staff with educational tools and opportunities

o Works with ASMs and P&E to interview and hire staff

o Helps execute training for all new staff members

o oversees all staff schedules and ensures all staff is present for their shift

o Troubleshoots staff call-outs and attempts to find coverage or shifts priorities, if necessary

o Works to resolve staff conflict and issues; coaches staff

o Assists ASMs with staff evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations

o Ensures all staff are being productive and working safe

o Delegates tasks in an appropriate manner

o Communicates with ASMs regarding availability of and need for cross trained staff

o Oversees and encourages staff development

o Exemplifies and trains department staff on providing genuine, compassionate and extra mile service to our guests
  • Operations

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
  • At least 2 years of management/progressive supervisory experience
  • At least 2 years retail environment experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Food costing and purchasing experience, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Natural Foods/Grocery industry
  • Thorough and proven knowledge of State and Federal Health Department standards for both health and sanitation
  • Ability to act as a role model and a team player
  • Goes the extra mile for customers and maintains the highest standards of courteous, professional customer service and sensitivity to customer's and co-workers needs
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the department; days/evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Strives to continually progress skill set and education and stay informed regarding new products and industry trends
  • Creativity and passion for the product
  • Strong leadership skills
  • High energy and an ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Self-management and an ability to remain calm under any stressful situation
Pay Statement:

This position is full-time with a minimum and maximum starting range of $19.00-$20.63 per hour
