Randall's Fire Services Division is currently seeking a top-tier Fire Sprinkler Designer to work on large scale, commercial/industrial/institutional projects throughout Orlando & Central Florida. We are excited about this important role and are determined to consider the best and brightest candidates who meet our requirements.

Position Summary

As a Fire Sprinkler Designer for Randall your primary responsibility will be to design and develop sprinkler systems to prevent fire and aid fire suppression. You will read and interpret building blueprints and specifications and then utilize design software to create layouts for fire suppression systems. You will submit fire sprinkler designs for approval by engineers and senior management. Other duties may include completing hydraulic calculations and determining material requirements, fabrication and stock listing.

Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and technical drawings.
  • Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire condition emergency.
  • Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, IBC, FBC and FFBC and follow all OSHA standards and laws.
  • Provide material take-offs for purchasing.
  • Coordinate with Prefabrication Shop and Onsite Foremen to assure quality fabrication and installation.
  • Revise models as requested.
  • Keep up to date on all advancements in material and software technologies.
  • Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Desired Qualification Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of fire sprinkler design experience required.
  • Proficiency in Autosprink, HydraCad or related software.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and building standards required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Action oriented and results driven with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Active NICET certification Level 1 or 2 Water Based Systems Layout.
  • Ability to pass drug screen and reference check.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

Physical Requirements

This is primarily an office position and, as such, you must be able to sit up to six or more hours in an eight-hour workday, lift light objects such as files and paperwork frequently during the day, and objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally during the day. You must also be able to bend, stretch, crouch, and lift as required by the job.
