Description
The X-Clinic Outreach Worker reports directly to the X-Clinic Supervisor. The goal of the X-Clinic Outreach Worker is to provide evidence based individual and community level interventions to target populations to increase education, prevention, testing and treatment of STIs in collaboration with the X Clinic at Codman. An ideal Outreach Worker will work with the Communicable Disease Prevention Program (CDPP), Codman communications department and community partners to develop and implement community based events, public education and marketing and social media campaigns focused on the grant priority populations including gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, youth, transgender and non US born individuals and people of color in the Dorchester and Mattapan area. . A successful Outreach Worker will have a passion for social justice, equitable and affordable care, and a desire to meet our community where they are at.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Lead planning for outreach activities aimed at reaching our target populations: youths, black and brown men who have sex with men, and non-US born individuals with a particular focus on outreach to the local Haitian community.
- In collaboration with the communications department will develop marketing and social media campaigns to reach our priority populations.
- Maintain accurate records of activity including number of events, referrals to X-Clinic, names of community partners/organizations.
- Represents X-Clinic/Codman Square Health Center at off-site health events in the community, at workshops, health fairs, and other events as assigned.
- Tracks and maintains inventory on all outreach materials and supplies and works with Communications/Marketing team to purchase more when necessary.
- Oversee and meet the goals and deliverables of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) Education and Outreach grant including:
- Logging and tracking data in the E2Boston Education & Outreach system
- Work with CDPP Manager, X-Clinic Supervisor, and Data Analyst to produce quarterly reports to BPHC.
- Support X-Clinic as needed by X-Clinic Supervisor.
- Associate degree or minimum of 2 years related work experience in STI/HIV/HCV field.
- Creative, energetic and outgoing
- Experience and familiarity with social media platforms
- Lived experience and/or familiarity with the priority populations
- Knowledge and experience with HIV services, including HIV education/prevention (PrEP), outreach and counseling.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Prior experience working with LGBTQ+ Community.
- Ability to connect with community members of various cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds.
- Ability to work M-F 8:30a-5p with some evenings and weekends possible. Hours will be shifted to keep a 40-hour work week.
