We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Mechanical Inspector Level 2 to join our team to support source inspections at multiple supplier locations in Washington. This critical role requires an experienced professional with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of quality assurance practices. What to Expect:

    • As a Mechanical Inspector Level 2, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and integrity of aerospace products at various stages of the manufacturing process. You will be responsible for performing detailed inspections at multiple supplier locations, ensuring that all incoming materials, in-process components, and final products meet stringent quality standards.
What You'll Do:
    • Performing incoming inspections of products and services from external providers, ensuring they meet specified requirements.
    • Conducting in-process and final inspections of critical features, utilizing witness inspection techniques such as CMM program runs.
    • Compiling and verifying final inspection sign-off sheets and inspection packages.
    • Ensuring inspection equipment is capable of detecting defects and verifying the adequacy of inspection methodologies against drawing intent.
    • Reviewing and validating justifications for any parts not inspected at final inspection.
    • Auditing and validating execution to the inspection plan, ensuring adherence to standards.
    • Verifying that products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing issues, and meet acceptable contour and waviness standards.
    • Ensuring products comply with specified workmanship standards, including oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, drill starts, scratches, dings, burrs, and fastener edge distance.
    • Confirming that all visible part finishes, paint, and skin quality meet required visual standards.
    • Checking hardware cleanliness and the absence of internal or external foreign object debris.
    • Verifying the correct application of safety wire, proper fastener installation, and ensuring continuous torque stripes from head to surface.
    • Ensuring supplier provisions for protection and preservation of inspected products through subsequent processing and shipment.
    • Confirming completion of First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and reviewing FAI Reports for completeness, traceability, and compliance.
    • Ensuring shipping documentation is legible and includes correct identification, configuration change letters, PD line item/quantity/change letters, and shipping destinations.
What You'll Need:
    • Extensive experience as a Quality Inspector or CMM Operator, with industry and commodity-specific expertise.
    • Proficiency in dimensional inspection of precision tolerance parts.
    • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with all inspection tools.
    • Ability to understand and interpret complex GD&T requirements and validate complex assemblies.
    • Experience with multiple primary and secondary part numbers (e.g., brackets, clips, doublers, splices, brackets, drip shields, etc.).
    • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
