Job Summary

The Student Residence Life Team Assistant (RLTA) is a live-on position for Spring 2025 and serves as a member of the staff leadership team. This position is an integral part of the residential life staff at Florida Gulf Coast University. The Student Residence Life Team Assistant should be able to demonstrate effective skills in communication, leadership, administration, and must understand and be sensitive to the needs of others. Many RAs will look to the RLTA as a role model, source of inspiration, and as a reliable team member.

Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Administrative Support
  • Attend and participate in all team meetings
  • Assist/support your supervisor with their assignments.
  • Monitor completion of Room Inventory Forms.
  • Collect program proposal forms, program receipts and program evaluation forms from Resident Assistants.
  • Review team duty logs each week and communicate problems/issues to your respective supervisor(s).
  • Communicate regularly with your respective supervisor about work progress, noted problems, and concerns.
  • Work with campus reservations to secure space as needed for programs and other area events.
  • Assist in the management of residential campus spaces and services.
  • Complete bulletin boards for commons areas as outlined by the Assistant Director for the assigned area.
Housing and Residence Life
  • Assist in executing the Resident Assistant training program, including presenting sessions, helping facilitate meals, and other training-related tasks.
  • Assist with Eagle Expo in the Spring semester.
  • Review and perform safety inspections with Resident Assistants.
  • Assist with Resident check-in and check-out processes
  • Be available for desk coverage when needed (during RA in-services, OHRL Front Desk, NLV Commons Desk, and each area desk in SoVi, etc.)
  • Serve in regular and holiday on-call rotation on an as-needed basis
  • Assist the Resident Assistant team with large scale programming, including but not limited to attending, planning, and helping execute Neighborhood Nights, FYRE Fridays & other events.
  • Other duties as assigned by your respective supervisor or within the Office of Housing and Residence Life

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two semesters of experience as a Resident Assistant in a student residential environment is required.
  • Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the university.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Developed organizational skills.
  • Strong time and task management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to receive several tasks and accomplish tasks independently.
  • Knowledge of community development and how residential communities are built and maintained.
