Position Summary:

The structures engineer will work with a team of designers and draftsmen in the Monterrey office to complete railway infrastructure projects with exceptional quality.

The person in this position will apply their knowledge and prior experience to solve crucial problems in project design and implementation as they arise in day-to-day operations. The Structures engineer will work closely with the Area Manager of the Monterrey Office and members of the Engineering department in the United States offices to collaborate and provide updates on the progress of multiple assigned projects.

Travel: The Structures engineer position will primarily be based out of RailPros' Monterrey office, but may include visits to client offices, job sites, and travel outside of Mexico to RailPros offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute the design of structures and foundations, prepare calculation reports and plans, as well as calculations of materials, in accordance with the applicable standards and procedures and in accordance with the project execution schedule.
  • Knowledge of national and international standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE)
  • Verify design and review documents and plans issued by other disciplines in order to identify possible interferences.
  • Maintain adequate communication and information flow with the rest of the disciplines.
  • Interpret, organize, assign, execute and coordinate projects.
  • Lead and assign responsibilities to designers to complete the design.
  • Meet assigned deadlines
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD Software (Such as Auto CAD, MicroStation, or Similar)
  • Proficient with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Lead program meetings and make presentations
  • Represent the organization impeccably and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high standard of Quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in English - Spanish. Advanced Level in Writing, Reading, and Speaking.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent
  • 5-10 years prior experience
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
