About the job

As a C Software Developer in Data Management at SAS, you will identify and modernize infrastructure and other potential improvements through public and private cloud services, leveraging various technologies, including developing complex, highly available services and varied solution interaction engineering. 

As a C Software Developer, you will: 

  • Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions on the SAS Access team.
  • Meet established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
  • Solve problems independently and seek guidance/collaboration when needed.
  • Actively involve other project stakeholders to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.
  • Participate in project scoping and scheduling: tracking progress of individual tasks and alerting stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.
  • Ensure quality through functional, unit and performance testing, working closely with testing by providing feedback on the test plan and communicate when updates to the plan should be made to cover code changes related to enhancements, redesigns and/or bug fixes.
  • Advocate for the adoption of best practices and continuous improvement throughout the SDLC

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field or equivalent additional training/experience.
  • 5+ years of C software development experience
  • Experience and understanding of the performance implications and security concerns of working with very large datasets for major institutions.
  • Experience working with and modernizing complex legacy code.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira.
  • An understanding of how Agile SDLC practices enable a successful team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SQL or another database language
  • Understanding of the performance implications and security concerns of working with very large datasets for major institutions
  • Experience working with and modernizing complex legacy code
  • Experience with containerization and cloud provider technologies
