Who We Are:
Founded in 2001, LEARN is a non profit network of PK-8th grade elementary schools that is creating measurable, transformational change in the lives of its students. We currently educate 4,000 students, a majority low-income, minority student population (88% and 98%, respectively), across 11 campuses across Chicago, Lake County, and Washington D.C.
Our schools provide a rigorous educational program that is built upon an intimate understanding of each student's individual learning style and academic needs. LEARN has been honored by having one of our school leaders recognized as the 2022 Principal of the Year by the Illinois Network of Charter Schools, in addition to LEARN 9 Waukegan earning a Exemplary school designation by the Illinois State Board of Education. LEARN also received a $7 million dollar gift from Mackenzie Scott in honor of our positive impact on education in Chicago.

What You'll Do:
LEARN Charter School Network is seeking an Occupational Therapist who will collaborate with school counselors/social workers, teachers, and school leaders in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of students, using the protocols of the LEARN Charter School Network academic and student support services protocols.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide a thorough assessment and identification of impairments related to Occupational Therapy (i.e motor, sensory).
- Create an individualized therapy program for students to share with classroom teachers and families.
- Assist clients in performing activities of all types.
- Use physical exercises to help patients increase strength and dexterity;
- Use activities to help patients improve visual acuity and the ability to discern patterns.
- Help clients improve decision-making, abstract-reasoning, problem-solving, memory, sequencing, coordination, and perceptual skills.
- Keep on-going and detailed records to assess student progress throughout the year.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.Past experiences and actions reflect a commitment to the LEARN mission and core values.

- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years prior experience providing the service required by this position, including at least three years of experience working within a school setting.
- Holds a license from the State to provide services as an occupational therapist and Registered with the Illinois Department of Financial Professional Regulations ( IDFPR)
- Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program.
- Strong interpersonal skills; personal organization skills.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state statutes dealing with privacy, care and protection abuse.
- Ability to make referrals to appropriate staff members and other agencies and organizations.
- Highly effective writing, oral and interpersonal skills to communicate with a varied audience.
- Computer skills including word processing, database, and spreadsheet are required.

Physical Demands
Caring for children can be physically demanding. School staff may be lifting and carrying children and equipment, and may spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture. Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. School staff will also be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facility, and may move throughout the community with children. Physical demands require the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, walk around the classroom and kneel upwards of 60% of the day. In addition, walking up and down stairs several times a day. Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of time and push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions
School staff will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and school staff will have to supervise all children at all times. Majority of work will be performed in a general office/ school environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
