This posting is for a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. This position diagnoses, treats, and researches medical conditions and diseases of horses, livestock, and other animals at the University of Findlay Farms.
Essential Functions
This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.
1. Provide medical care for school program horses at the Western and English equestrian farms.
2. Provide medical care for livestock at the Beckett Animal Science Center.
3. Provide medical care for UF faculty and staff horses if requested.
4. Provide medical care for any external clients identified by the University.
5. Oversee controlled drug use within the practice.
6. Provide emergency coverage for UF livestock and horses.
7. Provide clinical rotation support for UF Pre-Vet students.
8. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and veterinarian duties.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Emergency support availability will be required according to a designated service schedule that will include evening and weekend work.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M. or V.M.D.) degree at an accredited college of veterinary medicine.
2. Licensed veterinarian. All states require prospective veterinarians to complete an accredited veterinary program and to pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination.
