Project Risk Manager

The Project Manager supports the development and execution of the program's risk management strategy including the identification and mitigation of risks with potential impacts to safety, cost, schedule and functionality. Our work is comprehensive, spanning the areas of business development, equipment acquisition, facilities, information technology, operations, and others. The Risk Management Specialist's primary responsibilities include: 1. Gathering information, 2. Conducting risk analysis, 3. Facilitating/assisting with the implementation of risk management Best Practices, 4. Communicating findings to program team members and senior leadership team via presentations, reports, and dashboards. The Risk Management Specialist supports data-based decision making with senior leadership on risk responses, requirements, and program management deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support program integration - coordinate with internal departments, projects, and subject matter experts on alignment of data to support performance metrics and program control dashboards
- Data development/analysis/maintenance - gathers/organizes project/portfolio data and analyzes information towards risk identification and communicates findings, conclusions, and recommendations through dashboards, written reports, and presentations
- Project Portfolio/Program Analysis - assimilate project portfolio documentation, team member insights and facts to establish project/portfolio characteristics and produce risk profiles and mitigation plans
- Facilitate/support the Program through risk and project management Best Practices implementation and continuous improvement efforts
- Change agent - identify, promote, and support improvements to the current program procedures through learning and adapting project management Best Practices
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Physical Sciences, or a related field
- At least five (5) years of relevant work experience or any equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), Outlook, and Teams
- Strong focus on collaboration
- Organized and able to manage time well
- Effective working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives
- Able to conduct independent research
- Able to organize and present project/portfolio reports, proposals, and other related information
- Familiar with codifying information, generating metrics, and mathematical modeling and analysis
- Can work independently and flexibly, working in both established and less-established systems
- Can complete tasks with minimal guidelines and some uncertainties; can manage tasks across multiple projects and initiatives
- Able to develop and maintain good working relationships in a multi-functional team
- Must have authorization to work in the United States of America
- Experience using statistical modeling software (e.g. Stata, Minitab, etc.)
- Project management analysis/consulting experience
- Project assurance experience
- Familiar with project management Best Practices
- PMP in good standing
- Working knowledge of railroad systems, practices, and nomenclature
