Title: Faith Formation Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Religious Education
Location: Epiphany Cathedral Parish - Venice, FL
Overview:
The Coordinator of Faith Formation will plan, implement, oversee, and evaluate various Epiphany faith formation programming components. This faith formation programming will embrace the Holy Spirit in a manner that seeks to invite all involved to be passionate, lifelong Catholic disciples of Jesus Christ The ideal candidate will have the ability to present Church teachings, lead public prayer; interpersonal skills, public speaking; recruitment techniques; organizational, management, and administrative skills; creativity in program design and development, facilitation skills; knowledge of referral programs; energy, enthusiasm, and commitment; contemporary Catholic/Christian music; maintain A/V equipment; computer skills, including word processing; teaching techniques for adolescents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer catechetical programs: Faith Formation in Grades K-12, including sacramental preparation (Baptism, Reconciliation, Holy Communion, Confirmation).
- Organize recruiting events to grow the programs.
- Promote the program among the families, the entire parish, and the broader civic community.
- Set up Faith Formation classes on Wednesdays and Sundays. (including evenings)
- Substitute for catechists as needed.
- Record and maintain all data entry for Faith Formation groups.
- Collaborates with the Director of Religious Education in sending communications to individuals, families, and catechists in all Faith Formation groups.
- Providing digital resources to parents that parallel the content their children are embracing at an adult level.
- Develop plans and implement for the recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers.
- Collaborate with the Director of Religious Education on an ongoing basis regarding scheduling and promoting events related to catechetical programs.
- Schedule regular catechist and volunteer meetings to encourage the development of a catechetical faith community.
- Organize and coordinate the Religious Education sacramental ceremonies.
- Creates and distributes sacramental certificates and documentation.
- Enters information into Sacramental Books and Parish Soft.
- Mails and notifies all parties involved when sacraments are completed.
- Meet the requirements of safe environment policies regarding Safe Environment Training for Youth
- Attend Diocesan meetings related to Religious Education, Youth Ministry, and Safe Environment Programs.
- Compile and update Religious Education handbooks and manuals.
- Pursue education in current trends in faith formation ministry and other related professional issues.
- Other Faith Formation programming and/or administrative work as needed.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
- Bachelor’s degree in religious education, Theology, or Catechetics and Evangelization
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, Teams
- Collaborative/Team player mentality
- Ability to work on scheduled nights and weekends.
- Knowledge of ParishSoft, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, formed.org, and/or Life Teen methodologies are an added plus.
