JOB SUMMARY: Being a dentist at CARTI means having a focus on meeting the unique dental and oral healthcare needs of cancer patients. This practice is devoted to improving the well-being and quality of life of people battling cancer before, during and after treatment. The dentist provides routine and non-routine dental care for patients undergoing cancer treatment, surgery preparedness or surgical recovery while monitoring the patient's condition and working for the best quality of life. This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Being acutely aware of the special needs of a cancer patient's dental care. Working closely with multidisciplinary cancer care providers for continuity of care throughout each patient's journey. Meeting with patients to discuss and establish a comprehensive treatment plan. Performing comprehensive dental care. Prescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics. Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc. Keeping records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them. Managing and communicating with other staff members to provide care to patients. Actively manages the team of dental providers, including supervision of Dental Hygienists as appropriate. Participates in the annual review/evaluation of dental providers to ensure the quality of dental services. Clinically involved dentist who models the practice of evidence-based dentistry and superior patient experience skills. Fosters a collaborative model of practice to promote the growth and success of the practice. Works with the AVP of Clinical Care, Chief Clinical Officer and CARTI team members in the development and enhancement of practice guidelines. Ensures that the dental services provided are consistent with patient needs and with current knowledge concerning dental practices. Participates in facility emergency medical management protocols, drills, in-service and training. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Yes.
