Magnolia Animal Dentistry is a newly renovated, growing multi-doctor practice seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our team The ideal candidate would have confidence with anesthesia monitoring and dental prophylaxis plus, have an enthusiastic and positive attitude where you can be a harmonious team player. At Magnolia, we strive to emphasize client communication/education and excel at high standards of care. We provide preventative dental veterinary services only.

Position Overview: As a Veterinary Assistant you will play an important role in the day-to-day operations with Magnolia Animal Dentistry. You will assist the Veterinarians and CVTs with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine in-house lab work, educate clients regarding veterinary care, and assist with anesthetic procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use your clinical skills to provide the highest level of care
  • Obtain health history from clients and handle patients for examination
  • Complete lab work as required
  • Take radiographs as directed and have an understanding of positioning and radiation safety
  • Perform intravenous catheter placement and assist in collecting samples for diagnostics
  • Use correct veterinary terminology to complete medical records and provide instruction and information to clients
  • Proper drug calculations
  • Administer injections and other treatments as directed
  • Monitor anesthesia and prepare patients for surgery
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and dental imaging
  • Fill prescriptions for patients and have an understanding of commonly used medications
  • Client education
  • Perform duties as directed by leadership
  • Cleanliness and organization throughout work areas
  • Be a strong patient advocate
  • Be a dynamic team player and communicator

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least 2 years of experience performing above duties
  • Confident with anesthesia monitoring, dental assisting, dental radiographs, and pre & post op care
  • Must have strong communication skills and eagerness to take initiative
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and calculations
  • Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion
  • Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors

Available Schedule: Full-time position (~40 hours per week), schedule will be 7am-3pm Monday-Friday

  • We are open: Mon-Fri 7am-5pm
  • Closed Saturdays and Sundays
