POSITION SUMMARY

The Infectious Disease Pharmacist will provide comprehensive disease state management for patients with infectious diseases, including HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HBV), and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). This role is vital in improving patient outcomes, preventing the spread of infectious diseases, and fostering a healthier community. The Infectious Disease Pharmacist will work closely with patients and healthcare providers to optimize health outcomes, meet core performance measures, enhance patient education, and support community outreach efforts.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Expand on-site pharmacy services related to HIV at ARcare locations.
  • Implement comprehensive chronic disease management for patients living with HIV.
  • Provide treatment recommendations and collaborate with healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate and manage pharmacist-led long-acting injectable HIV treatment service (e.g., Cabenuva).
  • Monitor infectious disease related pharmacy consults in the EHR and assist providers and patients in securing access to treatment.
  • Coordinate patient care through ARcare's Pharmacy and Primary Care Teams.
  • Offer HIV prevention education, linkage to medical care, and assistance with enrolling patients in medication co-pay assistance programs.
  • Monitor the in-house HIV PrEP Task Box in the EHR and work on consultations, linking patients to PrEP.
  • Coordinate and manage patients referred to the in-house Hepatitis C (HCV) consultation service.
  • Monitor the in-house Hepatitis C Task Box in the EHR and work with the PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Resident and Specialty Pharmacy Team to link patients to treatment.
  • Provide consultation to providers regarding Hepatitis B and STIs management for lab interpretation, treatment selection, and follow-up monitoring.
  • Precept PGY-2 Ambulatory Care residents in the HIV and Viral Hepatitis Clinic experience.
  • Participate in initiatives or grant-funded projects related to infectious diseases, including the FOCUS partnership, HIV Prevention grant, AETC, and AR-CHIPP grant.
  • Engage in potential publications, data analysis for poster presentations, and grant report writing to secure funding for the position's salary.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

Doctorate of pharmacy from an accredited institution required. Completion of a PGY-2 Residency in Infectious Diseases or Ambulatory Care preferred.

Computer Skills

Efficient in word and able to learn new computer programs

Certificates & Licenses

Licensed in the State of Arkansas, Knowledge of business aspects regarding clinical pharmacy services in the ambulatory care setting; understands all Medicaid, Medicare and third party billing and remittance.

Other Requirements

Experience in managing HIV, HCV, HBV, and STIs. Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and community partners. Commitment to improving patient outcomes and public health.
