This individual will work with senior engineers and a manager who will aid and support this engineer in the following:

  • Design and development of electromechanical actuation components and systems for use in aerospace and defense products.

Product Life Cycle Engineering

  • Reviews customer specifications.
  • Creates design concepts for electromechanical actuation, including Brushless DC Motors and test equipment.
    • This includes integrating standard Kearfott components, specifying components from suppliers, and developing new design concepts.
  • Creates 3D CAD models of design concepts, and develops detailed 2D drawings while working with designers.
  • Develops and validates performance models.
  • Participates as a member of a cross-functional project team including: software engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, program managers, technicians, and sales/customer support staff.
  • Performs and coordinates design analysis using ANSYS, Matlab, and other CAE tools.
  • Support production lean manufacturing and product improvement initiatives.
  • Travel as required to various Kearfott, supplier or customer facilities to support manufacturing, testing and design reviews.

Required Skills

  • Understanding of manufacturing and design trade-offs (practical implementation of designs).
  • Mechanical design, analysis and test skills, hands on experience preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of BLDC motor theory preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in writing and verbally, across functional areas.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred, but not required.

Required Experience

  • Entry level position, 0 to 3 years of experience required.
  • B S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, General Engineering required.
  • Interest in aerospace and defense markets and technology a plus
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available
  • Must be able to work on U.S. government programs and/or obtain security clearance in the future
