Job Summary

The Lead Data Systems Engineer will play a key role in designing and managing robust, scalable data platforms for the Data Science and Analytics team. Responsibilities include architecting data solutions, implementing data pipelines, and ensuring compliance with data governance policies. This position requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to support advanced analytics, machine learning projects, and real-time data processing needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Business and IT teams to gather requirements and implement process and technology improvements for data solutions.
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable data pipelines to ingest and process diverse data using technologies such as Databricks, Apache Spark, and AWS services.
  • Develop and optimize data models and storage solutions to support operational and analytical applications.
  • Utilize ETL tools and frameworks to automate data workflows and ensure timely availability of data for analytics.
  • Establish best practices for code documentation, testing, and version control, and ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and databases for performance issues and optimize data access and throughput.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and methodologies in data engineering and advocate for implementing improvements to the data ecosystem.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering with expertise in designing and operating large-scale data pipelines.
  • Strong experience with platforms and services like Databricks, AWS native data offerings, and ETL/ELT pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and familiarity with machine learning model deployment practices is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Physical Requirements

The associate is required to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day. Occasional travel to other sites, including out-of-state, may be required for business.
