Job Description: The Investment Operations Team is a centralized service team dedicated to the creation, management, execution, and completion of broader firm initiatives. The team works to bring together project management and specific subject matter expertise to create and implement best practices and a consistent client experience across the firm. The Investment Operations Associate will support the team in their objectives in a wide variety of tasks. This can include preparing investment analysis, drafting client presentation material, tracking project status, maintaining database information, sourcing client data, as well as administrative duties for the department. The associate is expected to adopt, implement, and promote Pathstone best practices.
Job Responsibilities: Source data from available systems (Salesforce, Performance Reporting Platforms, Custodians) to contribute to the assessment and project planning. Maintain and review data in databases and CRM systems to support firm initiatives. Prepare and disseminate internal communications, document processes and procedures, and successfully deliver to staff. Act as a resource and information provider to department heads and client service staff across the Firm. Develop an in-depth understanding of the functions of other departments to integrate the needs of each into implementation. Due to the required expertise in all operational and investment matters, this role may initially include working closely on initiatives within the Research, Compliance, Capital Markets, and Performance Reporting Teams. Proactively communicate challenges and ask questions, as needed.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience in the financial management industry of 1-3 years, and full-time office experience, is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and client service skills. Being detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and deadline-focused are extremely important. Solid PC and Microsoft Office suite skills are critical, and above average Microsoft Excel skills are strongly preferred. Database experience and knowledge of Excel VBA are a plus, as is a basic understanding of investments (including mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and alternatives). They will need to show a positive attitude and initiative in all aspects of the position, as well as demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks in the face of competing demands. At the same time, they should enjoy learning and growing and be motivated to take on new challenges. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important to the role. Innovative problem solving will be strongly encouraged.
