Overview

The BH Crisis Services Clinician for the Outpatient Crisis Program is responsible for the provision of clinical assessment, behavioral health treatment and intervention, case management/care coordination and crisis intervention of children, adolescents and their families, who are experiencing a psychiatric/behavioral health crisis.  The goal for service is to evaluate appropriate level of care and maintain safety.  The Crisis Services Clinician II practices under an independent license.

This individual is responsible to utilize individual, group and family clinical modalities and case management/care coordination strategies within expected practice standards and as informed by the professional literature.  The Crisis Services Clinician II will possess the skills to provide interventions in a flexible and adaptive manner, with strong critical thinking skills.  This individual will provide culturally appropriate trauma-informed interactions and interventions in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities
  • Remains current in required licensure and clinical or other trainings as required.  Satisfactory progress toward independent licensure is expected.
  • Accurately evaluates and documents client presenting problems, history, symptomology, mental status, diagnosis and prescribes initial interventions in a timely manner.
  • Competently assesses risk for lethality and engages in thorough safety planning.
  • Recommends disposition for level of care, utilizing case consultation and staffing as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with client/family to assist in developing specific, realistic, and measurable treatment goals and objectives for treatment. 
  • Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations. Interventions to include individual and family psychotherapy as well as crisis intervention and de-escalation. 
  • Remains current in research and knowledge of competencies of the treatment of behavioral health crisis and assessment of lethality risk.
  • Completes clinical charting and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards.
  • Practices within professional areas of expertise.
  • Supports staff development of non-independently licensed clinicians. Available for case consultation with peers to support sound clinical direction and disposition.
  • Maintains productivity expectations and promotes patient access to care.
  • Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care. Places appropriate referrals and maintains knowledge of resources both internal and external to this agency.
  • Maintains organized and current record of caseload status, in accordance with designated program procedures.
  • Responds to Code Violets in the LAC.
  • Meets regularly with Clinical Lead Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator/Program Manager, or supervisory designee.
  • Attends routine staff meetings.
  • Attends in-service trainings, peer review and other intra-agency and supervisory activities. Obtains continuing education consistent with licensing requirements.
  • Demonstrates willingness to seek/accept direct supervision as well as respect and engage in productive mutual feedback with colleagues and others.
  • Functions well in a team environment and contributes positive support to colleagues and peers.
  • Strives to maintain positive patient experience and engages in family centered care.
  • Supports the philosophy, goals and mission of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinator or Administrator. 
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities    Minimum Physical requirements

  • Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy;
  • Appropriate Independent Ohio licensure;
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing and managing behavioral healthcare to children, adolescent and families;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, peers and community representatives.
