Job Summary: The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse PR actioner renders medical care to mentally ill patients. They are responsible for assessment of patients, prescribing medications within their protocols, rendering therapy, and in conjunction with the Psychiatrist on protocol completing staffing. Provides general psychiatric care and treatment to patients in the clinic as well as inpatient and residential areas in collaboration/consultation with a psychiatrist currently holding an unrestricted license in Mississippi. In accordance with their Board of Nursing approved protocol, the psychiatric nurse practitioner will assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of mental illnesses. Additionally, the psychiatric nurse practitioner will provide core education and counseling to promote mental health. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interpretation of information is required to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Provide appropriate psychiatric for the setting while being fiscally mindful and seek collaboration as needed. Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physical demanding task such as transferring patient and lifting supplies Demonstrate the ability to work in a high paced work environment, multitasking, while delivering quality patient care services Consistently communicates in a friendly, courteous, and compassionate manner in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and employees while achieving exceptional, sustained quality patient care, satisfaction, and loyalty. Consistently provides an accurate diagnostic assessment by gathering a health history from the patients, family members or other caregivers, and accurately performs a physical examination to facilitate a correct diagnosis. Consistently recognizes early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental illness/problems, and refers the patient to a physician to facilitate quality patient care. Consistently provides adequate surveillance of medical regimens for chronically ill and acutely ill patients by using established protocols and recognizing when to refer a patient to a physician or other healthcare provider. Consistently and accurately documents all events in the patient record to allow information to be accessible to others as needed. Assisting with on call schedule including assessment of criteria for admission and assisting with providing new patient orders upon arrival. Effectively collaborates with physicians by referring complicated or unclear cases to them to facilita e quality patient care. Demonstrate through concise and timely documentation reports and verbal communication any pertinent information including changes to policy and other communication to staff as needed.
