Adult Companion Job Type: Part or Full Time Hours available Schedule: 5-8 hour shifts available, weekdays only Location: Adams, MA 01247 Adult Companion Responsibilities: As an Adult Companion, you will provide non-medical care to a functionally disabled senior who lives in Adams, MA. The goal of this role is to help members stay safely in their home. You will help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping and other daily living activities. This service is provided in accordance with a therapeutic goal in the service plan. This particular UCP member has a wonderful personality, enjoys baking and knitting and spending time with their grandchild. Adult Companion Qualifications: - Must be at least 18 years of age - A high school diploma, or have life or work experience with individuals with disabilities and/or seniors - Awareness of diabetic skin care needs - Detail oriented and observant - Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information - Appropriate communication skills to effectively communicate with member, caregiver and other stakeholders - Be able to handle emergency situations - Understanding of the importance of supporting the dignity and human rights of all members - Have certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to be certified - Valid drivers license, safe driving record, availability of private vehicle, up-to-date car insurance - CORI, SORI, DPPC and National Fingerprint Check - A negative Mantoux TB test or a clear chest x-ray Adult Companion Benefits - Employee sign on bonus program (minimum number of hours required) - Vacation, personal time and sick leave benefits - 403(b) retirement program - Mileage reimbursement - College tuition remission program - Employee referral program and more About Us: As part of the UCP affiliate network, UCP of Western Massachusetts offers a variety of community programs and services for persons with disabilities and other similar service needs, including Assistive Technology, Early Intervention, Individual and Family Support, and Adult Family Care.
