Phlebotomist Job Description As a Phlebotomist, you will perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. You will collect and store specimens, explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly to patients, and ensure all physician orders are fully understood and followed. Your responsibilities also include matching laboratory forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders. You will also package specimens for transport, store samples according to required temperature, and adhere to protocols necessary to maintain the integrity of the specimen. Compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations is mandatory, as is participating in annual department trainings. You will also handle telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Hard Skills Proficiency in venipunctures Experience with Microsoft Office Suite Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required in some states) Soft Skills Ability to clearly explain procedures to patients Attention to detail Strong communication skills Job Type This is a contract position with a duration of 3 Month(s).
