Job Description
The GRASP Counselor is a key coordinator who drives support for students in need of credit recovery and academic support. The GRASP Counselor will spend their time managing an academic recovery program for students at risk of dropping out. This would include managing first-time credit, and credit recovery curriculum, as well as engaging students and families to support dropout prevention. The GRASP Counselor supports a high-touch relational approach to educational support and has superior customer service skills and a commitment to providing the best experience possible for their students and families. Responsibilities
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of the work being performed in this position.   • Conduct in-depth student analyses to understand the population's needs and establish a reduced caseload.
  • Provide supportive one-on-one student collaboration to create individually tailored plans and programs of study for each student on his or her caseload.
  • Establish a comprehensive team to provide student support for each student on his or her caseload.
  • Engage caseload students in discovering, examining, and exploring postsecondary options.
  • Implement a counseling program to support caseload students.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a cluster counseling plan to address at-risk students.
  • Develop a sustainability plan for activities developed throughout the grant.
  • Conduct an analysis focused on data for individual students and subgroups such as attendance records, behavior records, records of teacher conferences, grade retention records, and records of credits earned
  • Monitors student engagement/attendance for graduation requirements on their caseload and identifies barriers to school attendance or academic achievement by initiating recurring contact by phone with students and their families when students begin showing signs of failure/struggle as determined by grades, missed log-ins, course activity, and number of missing assignments
  • Contact every student on their caseload by phone or zoom for a regularly scheduled conference call; answer all phone calls from students, staff and parents, and maintain activity logs and documentation.
  • Acts as an advocate for students and families and refers students on their caseload (and families), as applicable, to outside agencies or school level support services to ensure needs are met
  • Attends and participates in school, GRASP sponsored meetings and Professional Development Events related to student engagement or that are specific to the needs of staff that provide direct instruction or direct non-instructional services to credit recovery students; (referring students/families to Social Worker
  • Provides parents with opportunities to partner with the school and support student learning through engagement activities
  • Provides materials and training on how parents can improve their child's achievement
  • Provides reasonable support for parental involvement as requested and ensure, to the extent possible, that information sent home is in a language and form parents can understand

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree AND Georgia Certificate in School Counseling
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet

Certificates and Licenses
  • GA PSC School Counseling License/Certificate
  • Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required
  • Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission required.

Other Requirements
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite.
  • Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
  • Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking, planning, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within established deadlines
  • Dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required

  • Maintain a professional home office without distraction during 8-5 workday when working from home
  • Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation

Desired Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience in school counseling, social work, advising, teaching, or related fields
  • Proven experience in effecting positive change in an educational setting
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • TKES/LKES credentialed
  • Previous experience as an online counselor or educator
  • Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI
  • Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
  • Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)
  • Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)
  • Working knowledge of CLASS (live classroom tool)
  • Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool
  • Bi-lingual

  • Work Schedule: This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, 5 days/week, home-based position that may require traveling up to 20% of the time
