Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Emergency Medicine, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Responsibilities Responds on-site to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses. Conducts a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of his condition. Makes an independent preliminary assessment of the patient's condition and selects from a variety of prescribed protocols the one which he considers appropriate under the given circumstances. Prioritizes treatments for patient having multiple problems and employs a variety of established emergency medicine techniques, methods and equipment to the appropriate medical facility. Performs thorough safety and maintenance inspections and minor repairs on emergency and patient transport vehicles and a variety of medical equipment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing emergency medical assistance to patients; taking and recording vital signs; screening patients for providers and completing required documentation,; performing medical assessments to determine patient's emergency care requirements. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure/Certification: Current certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as an EMT; Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
