Job Description

The Counselor for the Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse (IOPSA) youth specialty program provides counseling services and coordination of care for patients and families, utilizing individual, group, and/or family approaches as indicated by need. Provides group counseling to adolescents enrolled in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Maintains and manages a caseload size of up to 20 patients receiving counseling services and up to 60 patients as Clinical Liaison. Meets minimum qualifications for a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) or Behavioral Health Professional (BHP), is credentialed as a Clinical Liaison (CL), and is responsible for service delivery by the Clinical Liaison role, including conducting assessments, facilitating, or participating in Child and Family Teams, and providing clinical oversight to teams. Negotiates individualized service plans, implements agreed-upon interventions and monitors progress toward goal completion in accordance with the Arizona Vision and 12 Principles. Works with the child and family team to prevent and/or appropriately respond to crises and to minimize out-of-home placement. Monitors patient's level of acuity/need and recommends appropriate level of case management and/or psychiatric services accordingly. Promotes patients/family independence and assists with transition planning.

Salary: Master Level No License $56,000 / Master Level Associate License $72,000 / Master Level Independent License $85,000

NHSC Substance Use Disorder Workforce Loan Repayment Program - provides up to $75,000 in exchange for a three-year commitment from health care professionals who provide substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services at NHSC-approved SUD treatment facilities. Clinicians with DATA 2000 Waivers can receive award preference.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in behavioral health (B.H.) related field; or
  • Master's degree in non-BH related field AND 1 year of BH work experience.
  • Must be credentialed as a BHT II or BHP within 90 days of hire
  • Must be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of human behavior to show potential for rehabilitating drug dependent clients
  • Must have good skills in both verbal and writing communications
  • Must be able to provide culturally sensitive services
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of the substance abusing population, treatment planning and the field of human social services to work towards the rehabilitation of the client community
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment and/or Electronic Health Records systems
  • Must possess strong written and verbal skills
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trained or the ability to be trained within 90 days of hire date.
  • Copy of Immunization Records or Titer's Test for MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Flu
  • Must have or able to obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must possess reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance
  • Must maintain current BLS certification
  • Covid 19 Vaccination or Qualified Exemption (Religious or Medical).
