Manufactured in the U.S., Euclid orthokeratology lenses have received FDA approval in the U.S., CE mark for Europe, as well as regulatory approvals from numerous countries around the world.

The Sr. Automation Engineer will work with multi-functional teams/sites, external equipment builders, robot system, metrology, and contract manufacturers in the successful development and implementation of various manufacturing systems according to strategic plans. This role reports directly to the Senior Director, Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Euclid's automation projects. Ensure manufacturing requirements, cost, quality, and timing expectations are met.
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing process improvement opportunities through structured experimentation, root cause analysis, and problem solving by using robot /automation machining and cleaning system, automated inspection, and imaging process monitor techniques
  • Lead the planning & execution of manufacturing improvement projects, design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts to meet or exceed KPI goals by improving safety, reducing variability, improving production lead time and outputs, and increasing labor & equipment efficiency
  • Develop the writing of User Requirement Specifications, Statements of Work and Software Requirement Specifications
  • Develop medical device requirements for software validation, Installation Qualification (IQ), Operation Qualification (OQ) and Process Qualification (PQ) as it relates to production equipment validation.
  • Collaborate with Production to develop and implement standard work practices, training, and preventative maintenance for all key manufacturing processes
  • Assists in training/mentoring of beginning level engineers. Lead engineering team with root cause analysis for problems identified and specification requirements during validation testing or in customer complaints and production yield loss.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in engineering with a minimum of 3+ years of professional work experience in automation and controls including robot control, imaging /vision inspection system
  • Specific experience specifying and implementing automated CNC machining, Auto clean/packaging, vision / automated inspection systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with software automation tools & PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley Siemens, Delta Tau, etc.)
  • Experience with robot programming, vision sensing for robotic applications, knowledge of lighting / optics techniques in automated imaging applications Familiarity with machine learning techniques, especially Deep Learning
  • Ability to lead and prioritize multiple medium complexity project assignments and complete work in a timely manner
  • Ultra-Precision Machining, Diamond lathe turning, Nanotech/ Optoform /DAC Contact Lens lathe experience is a plus
