Summary:

Under the supervision and direction of the Program Coordinator and Outpatient Administrator, the outpatient school-based therapist will provide direct mental health services to the clients and families of Methodist Family Health (MFH) in a school-based and community setting. The clientele includes children, adolescents and their families.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct clinical services that includes, but are not limited to diagnostic assessment, individual, family, and group therapies, crisis intervention and collateral intervention. These services will primarily be provided in a school setting, but may also include community-based settings as needed and appropriate including meeting HIPAA standards (i.e. client’s home, courts, Boys & Girls Club, etc.).

Develop treatment plans in cooperation with clients, families and treatment team members and perform reviews/updates specific to organization policies and procedures, state and federal regulations.

Participate in departmental and program treatment team meetings, staff meetings, trainings and supervision.

Participates in school-based family service or referral meetings, IEP & 504 conferences, parent-teacher conferences, open houses, in-service trainings, school and district committees, etc.

Work with administrative support and utilization review staff to facilitate scheduling, prior and continuing authorizations for services, and transfers/discharges.

Complete all clinical and administrative processes, including documentation, in compliance with organization, department and program policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations (Medicaid, Joint Commission, insurance, etc.) as it relates to content and time frames for assessments, treatment plans and review, progress notes, services provided, billing, meeting direct care expectations, etc.

Provide timely communication verbally and in writing with supervisor, colleagues, clients, families, schools, courts, other professionals within and outside the organization, etc. This includes returning phone calls, writing letters, emails, etc.

Work with other professionals and programs within the MFH continuum of care and/or other outside organizations and agencies to coordinate the best and most appropriate treatment for MFH clients including transfers and referrals to other programs or agencies as needed.

Assist in preparation for, and help maintain compliance with state and federal licensing and accreditation regulations (i.e. Medicaid, Joint Commission, Dept. of Human Services, Dept. of Health, etc.) as appropriate and needed.

Maintain professional licensure by completing required continuing education and providing copies of updated license and CEU certificates to Human Resources.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field.

Licensed, in good standing, by Arkansas Professional Board as an LMSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LPE, LPE-I, or PhD.

Ability to document accurately and professionally.

Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions.

Remains current in Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, CPR & First Aid.

Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health, regardless of gender.

Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability.

Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.

Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.

Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.

Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms.

Experience working in a school-based or community based behavioral health setting.

Experience working with at-risk youth.

Trauma Focused CBT certified or in progress.

Other specialized training/certification or in progress (i.e. play therapy, EMDR, etc.).

Ability to be flexible with schedule.

Experience working in an Electronic Medical Record.

Flu vaccinations are mandatory and required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions).

Other: The individual employed in this position may accept other reasonable assignments, which may be necessary, for efficient operation of assigned programs as there is time and opportunity.

Level One - Full Access:

Ongoing regular access to PHI of all forms while the employee is on duty and performing within the scope of his or her job as defined by the employee's job description, and Policy and Procedure.
