Our client, a leader in the industrial sector, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Certified Weld Inspector to join their Quality Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to ensure that all welding work meets stringent quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will perform tests and inspections on welds to verify they meet engineering specifications and will also play a key role in training newly hired welders.

Location: Plymouth, MI
Compensation: $28-$32/hr + benefits (direct hire position) Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct visual inspections on in-progress and completed welded products and structures.
  • Identify defects such as cracks and pits, using magnification tools when necessary.
  • Verify weld machine setup and monitor welding techniques to ensure quality standards.
  • Record test results and welding inspections accurately.
  • Administer hands-on welding sample tests using company equipment.
  • Collaborate with Welding Department Team Leaders to facilitate training programs for welders.
  • Comply with quality and environmental policies, including AS9100 and IS14001 standards.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, plus 1-3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification.
  • Minimum of three years' relevant experience.
  • ASNT non-destructive examination (NDE) Level 2 certification is desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands, and reach with arms.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
