- Civil Engineer III - Development Review

- Reviewing Development Proposals: Ensure projects are safe, sustainable, and built to last.
- Collaborating with Stakeholders: Work with developers, contractors, and city teams to bring projects to life.
- Applying Your Expertise: Evaluate drainage reports, construction plans, and traffic studies to keep our city moving forward.
- Managing Floodplain Development: Provide guidance on floodplain regulations and help protect our Community.
- Engage with the Community: Represent the city at neighborhood meetings and share insights that make a difference.
- Civil Engineer II: An analytical thinker with a strong foundation in civil engineering and a passion for development review.
- Civil Engineer III: A seasoned professional with a PE license, floodplain management expertise, and the leadership skills to drive projects forward.
The hiring range for the Civil Engineer II is $75,780.80 - $94,726/year.
The hiring range for the Civil Engineer III is $78,371.86 - $105,802.01/year.

Minimum Qualifications
Civil Engineer II:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and completion of Engineer Intern (EI) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification is preferred. At least three-years of experience in Civil Engineering or closely related field is required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
Civil Engineer III:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and completion of Engineer Intern (EI) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification are required. Must have current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Colorado or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Must have current Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification or ability to obtain within one year. At least six-years' experience in Civil Engineering or closely related field is required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Two of those six years of experience must be related to land development or engineering plan and report review to ensure adequacy and compliance with codes and criteria. Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.

PAID TIME-OFF BENEFITS:

- Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase during their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation. Pay increases do not come at the time of the six-month introductory evaluation.
- Employee Home Ownership Program: To encourage employees to reside within the City limits of Commerce City, we may provide a secured loan for the down payment and/or closing cost assistance on a home in Commerce City. The employee must meet all City criteria as well as first mortgage underwriting criteria.
- Personal Computer Employee Purchase Program: To encourage the development of employee computer skills, the City offers an interest-free loan to you for the purchase of computer hardware (including a Desktop or Laptop) and software. The employee must have successfully completed their 6-month Introductory Period for eligibility.
- Recreation Center Membership: Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.
- Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
