Position Overview:
Barrick seeks a highly motivated and experienced Permitting Specialist to join our Fourmile Projects Team in Nevada. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all necessary permits and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained for the Fourmile Project (North America's largest undeveloped gold deposit). This position requires a thorough understanding of environmental regulations, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Permitting and Compliance:
    • Lead the preparation, submission, and management of permit applications and regulatory approvals for the Fourmile Projects.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
    • Monitor and report on the status of permits and regulatory compliance to the Environmental Manager and project team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with regulatory agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate the permitting process.
    • Represent Barrick Gold Corporation in meetings with regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to support project success.
  • Environmental Management:
    • Conduct environmental impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize environmental impacts.
    • Collaborate with the Environmental Manager and project team to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
    • Monitor and report on environmental performance and compliance with permit conditions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all permitting activities and correspondence.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports on permitting status, compliance, and environmental performance.
    • Ensure all documentation is in accordance with Barrick Gold Corporation's policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance, preferably in the mining industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification in environmental management or a related field.
  • Experience with permitting and compliance for large-scale mining projects.
  • Knowledge of NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) processes and requirements.
