Description

The Invensys Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA in Foxboro, MA, is hiring Child Watch Staff to work in our Child Watch program, Monday-Friday, during morning hours. Position perks include:
  • 3 hours of free child watch during child watch operations hours

Child Watch is a member benefit. Children, ages 2 months to 10 years old, can enjoy free play and/or participate in activities that may include painting, crafts, reading, STEM projects, or music. Child Watch Monitors create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for children while their parents/guardians use the YMCA facility. The Child Watch Monitor is warm and supportive towards children and is eager to help them thrive. The individual in this role assures parents and guardians that children are well cared for in a secure environment. This position provides a quality experience for children that focuses on the YMCA's core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Essential Functions
  • Provides a friendly, inviting, supportive environment for the children in the care of the Child Watch program
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment at all times
  • Assists in the separation of children from parents/guardians as they are dropped off
  • Redirects children and anticipates and proactively intervenes to prevent accidents and incidents
  • Works with children in adjusting to the Child Watch room
  • Initiates group activities, including reading, arts and crafts, blocks, etc., as is developmentally appropriate
  • Assists in opening and closing procedures as appropriate for scheduled shift
  • Assists in administrative tasks, including sign-in and out procedures
  • Follows procedures and policies specific to the Child Watch room
  • Provides coverage for one's scheduled shift in the event of an absence by contacting other staff and informs the supervisor in advance of such absences
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled and required
Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years old
  • CPR & First Aid certified in the first 30 days
  • Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to respond to critical situations
  • Ability to communicate verbally with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents
