Employment Placement Specialist
The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to individuals recently released from incarceration. Each year, 8,000-9,000 people across the United States participate in CEO programs, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.
Originally a demonstration project by the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers for the formerly incarcerated in New York City, CEO has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country. Since 1996, over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment through CEO.
Job Description
The Opportunity
CEO is seeking to hire an Employment Placement Specialist for our Detroit office. This role is crucial to CEO's mission of helping individuals transitioning from incarceration regain the skills and confidence needed for a successful return to stable and productive lives.
Employment Placement Specialists expand the range of employment opportunities available to our participants by aligning their interests, experiences, and ambitions with potential job placements. They also identify and cultivate relationships with prospective employers.
The most rewarding aspect of being an Employment Placement Specialist is the satisfaction of making the "right fit" match between participants and employers. Your expertise and insight not only lead to immediate successful placements but also contribute to participants' long-term workforce engagement, significantly reducing recidivism rates.
As part of our mission, we strongly encourage individuals with lived experience of incarceration or involvement in the justice system to apply for this role.
