The Lead System Administrator (Managing Assistant Director 1) is responsible for managing, maintaining and optimizing the University's technical systems and software infrastructure. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, this role oversees the deployment, documentation, patching, and troubleshooting of core system infrastructure, including server operating systems, hardware, virtualization platforms, storage arrays, and key applications. As a subject matter expert in data center-to-cloud-based infrastructure, the Lead System Administrator ensures that the University's technology infrastructure is modern, agile, scalable, and resilient, incorporating industry best practices. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and three years of demonstrated experience in systems administration, including managing Windows/Linux servers, VMware, Active Directory, and storage area networks (SANs) is required. A degree field of Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field is preferred. Candidate must have expertise in virtualization and cloud technologies, including infrastructure-as-a-service platforms like AWS and Azure; strong knowledge of backup, disaster recovery processes, network security practices, and identity management systems; thorough understanding of IT infrastructure standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices; and proficiency in Microsoft 365 cloud and server administration. Preferred qualifications include: certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, or AWS); experience with cloud migrations and hybrid cloud infrastructure management; and familiarity with wired/wireless networking, firewall configurations, and security systems.
