Manager, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program
Position Summary:

The Manager, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides program oversight and supports facilitation in distance education instruction incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the College. The incumbent will be accountable for the function's delivery of the nursing curriculum in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and purposes of the Program. The Manager, Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner will engage cross-functionally, as well as with faculty and learners in all aspects of the nursing education process including evaluating the potential for successful achievement in the program and is accountable for Nursing Education successful attainment of key performance indicators, program and functional outcomes, and the success of the College's mission.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates PMHNP curriculum development and review.
  • May travel up to five times per year.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with the Educational Standards, Policies, and Guidelines established by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Monitors, guides, counsels, and advises learners in their progression through the program.
  • Contributes to the admission process for the NP program by participating in the NP Admissions and Progression Committee to engage in shared decision making.
  • Serves on program and college committees.
  • Teaches courses in accordance with college expectations.
  • Creates a learning environment that is characterized by a culture of inquiry and practice scholarship that exemplifies rapid translation of new knowledge into practice and uses evaluation of evidence-based models of care.
  • Monitors learner time commitment to ensure that it is reasonable.
  • Manages PMHNP practice site integrity and relations with site partners, collaborates with college partnerships to procure new faculty practice sites and learner placement.
  • Oversees and supports PMHNP faculty.
  • Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and graduate program for PMHNP.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline from an institution of higher education that was accredited by an agency officially recognized by the US Secretary of Education to accredit institutions at the time the degree was conferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in administrative, clinical, and didactic activities preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered RN and NP license from state of residence and ability to obtain RN and NP licensure in any jurisdiction required by the College, including a valid multi-state license.
  • Current NP certification for specific role population.
  • Maintains clinical practice in area of role specialization.
  • Maintains immunizations, NP licensure, and certification records as required by accreditation, facility, or state board of nursing.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of NP practice in role specialization, clinical content knowledge, and related professional issues as demonstrated by: (a) current clinical practice (b) use of evidence-based practice in instruction, in consultation with clinical experts as appropriate, and (c) participation in continuous professional development program.
  • Demonstrated five years' experience in institutional and programmatic accreditation processes preferred.
  • Experience in teaching Advanced Practice Nurses preferred.
