Overview
The Prefabricator plays a pivotal role within the Prefabrication Department, working under the guidance of the Prefab Manager to efficiently assemble and fabricate electrical components, contributing to streamlined project execution and improved overall project quality.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Prefab Manager to execute efficient prefab processes.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications to assemble prefab components accurately.
- Assemble electrical components, including conduit runs, gear, boxes, panel assemblies, and other prefab materials.
- Package preassembled kits for distribution, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
- Ensure all prefab components meet design specifications, industry standards, and quality expectations.
- Participate in quality control checks to identify and rectify any fabrication errors or discrepancies.
- Operate prefab tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete fabrication tasks.
- Maintain a well-organized and clean prefab workspace, ensuring proper storage of materials and tools.
- Follow established safety protocols and best practices to create a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with the Prefab Manager and team members regarding project progress and challenges.
- Assist with inventory management and material requisition to support prefab operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on prefab processes and suggesting enhancements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a certified apprenticeship program is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical prefab or construction.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems and equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, work in confined spaces and at heights, and stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical movements, including bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and work with heavy electrical equipment and objects such as light fixtures, wire, conduit, junction boxes, motors, and other equipment.
- Ability to work from various heights using A-Frames, extension ladders, boom lifts, scaffolds, and aerial work platforms.
- Ability to dig and work in trenches.
- Good vision (normal or corrected) and ability to identify and separate wires by color.
- Ability to stand for 80% of the day.
- Ability to carry material from one location to another or floor to floor.
- Ability to lift and work with tools above head.
