Job Description:

  • Proficiently complete patient rooming process, which includes vitalizing, drawing blood, reviewing medications, and obtaining recent medical history.
  • Enter lab orders into the Labdaq accurately, print labels and label tubes accurately and appropriately.
  • Document all work within patient charts.
  • Review Summary Page with patients as part of the rooming process including PHQ-9, Plain Scale, and Patient Activation Measures.
  • Monitor medication refills/prescription line/medical assistant inbox for rx refills, review MD notes for accuracy, and submit refill requests
  • Communicate patient issues with provider, social worker, nutritionist, and supervisors.
  • Answer patient questions and/or return patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Review, prep, and monitor providers schedules at least a week out for consistency, and address any scheduling issues that require attention.
  • Put away supplies/stock rooms.
  • Monitor EMR inbox (both individual and medical assistant), email, and teams, responding to all appropriately and accordingly.
  • Monitor the inbox for items that require action, and bring to MD attention patient related inquiries.
  • Contact patients to provide lab results or general information as directed by the provider within the scope of responsibility of an MA.
  • Prepare MD bills at least one day in advance of the appointment, noting any important information for the provider.
  • Attend department meetings and in-service training as required.
  • Assist with tasks and coverage for front end staff as needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidates Possess:
  • At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, hem/onc experience preferred but not required.
  • Associate's degree preferred but not required
  • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA
  • Proven work experience in a role or environment that emphasized teamwork, strategy and community healthcare.
