Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing critical respiratory care to patients, including administering oxygen therapy, managing ventilators, and assisting in the treatment of respiratory illnesses and conditions. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer Respiratory Therapy: Provide oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, mechanical ventilation, and other respiratory interventions to patients with respiratory disorders.
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' respiratory status, including vital signs, lung sounds, blood oxygen levels, and ventilator settings.
- Ventilator Management: Set up and manage mechanical ventilators for patients with respiratory failure or other critical conditions.
- Assessments & Evaluations: Perform respiratory assessments, including arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, lung volume measurements, and pulmonary function tests.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans based on clinical needs and treatment goals.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory care, proper use of respiratory equipment (e.g., CPAP/BiPAP), and breathing exercises to improve lung function.
- Documentation: Accurately document treatments, assessments, patient progress, and any changes in care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Certification: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred, but new graduates with the appropriate certification are welcome to apply.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, move patients, and work with respiratory equipment in a clinical environment.
