Facilities Manager Job Description

Position: Facilities Manager
Location: Multi-Unit Territory
Reports To: Regional Director or Director of Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical infrastructure of multiple restaurant locations. This role requires hands-on expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical work, plumbing, and general maintenance. The ideal candidate will proactively manage repairs, ensure compliance with safety standards, and support operational efficiency by minimizing downtime due to facility-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to:
    • HVAC systems (installation, maintenance, and repair).
    • Refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers and freezers.
    • Electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and lighting.
    • Plumbing, such as water lines, drains, and restroom fixtures.
    • General handyman tasks, including carpentry, painting, and equipment upkeep.
  • Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule to reduce emergency repairs.
2. Equipment & Systems Management:
  • Ensure all equipment operates at peak performance to support restaurant operations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment inspections, repairs, and replacements.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or large-scale projects.
  • Perform regular audits of facility systems to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
3. Operational Support:
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests or emergencies to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with restaurant managers and regional directors to prioritize repair needs.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and relocation of equipment as needed.
  • Train staff on basic maintenance protocols to extend equipment lifespan.
4. Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure facilities meet local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections to identify and resolve potential hazards.
  • Maintain compliance with fire safety, health codes, and environmental regulations.
5. Budget Management:
  • Track and manage facility-related expenses, including repair costs and replacement parts.
  • Propose cost-effective solutions for repairs and maintenance without compromising quality.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance costs and provide recommendations for capital improvements.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Multi-unit maintenance experience is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on expertise in diagnosing and repairing HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment related to facility maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with managers, vendors, and contractors.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between locations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, or holidays.
