North Carolina Field Organizer

Cleveland, United States Blue Wave America Full time
  • Location: Northwest Region of North Carolina

Overview:

Blue Wave America is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as full-time Field Organizers for the 2024 election cycle, leading the effort to drive turnout in the rural counties of North Carolina.

Field Organizers will work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot and will be responsible for implementing an aggressive field plan and managing the GOTV operation in rural North Carolina. In addition, Field Organizers will be responsible for engaging in relational organizing strategies by cultivating relationships with relational volunteers and assisting with regional events.

Field Organizers will report directly to the Deputy State Director. This is a hybrid position requiring in-personal travel throughout Eastern Coastal, Mountains Western, and Northwestern Rural North Carolina. Candidates with prior personal or professional experience in rural North Carolina are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation begins at $4,000 per month, paid in installments twice monthly, with higher pay available based on experience in addition to 100% employer-paid medical insurance. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. This full-time, temporary position is based in North Carolina and ends on November 30, 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing all aspects of the field program in assigned region.
  • Coordinating and participating in direct voter contact programs to persuade and mobilize voters including phonebanking, door-knocking, and textbanking.
  • Recruiting, training and managing volunteers and interns.
  • Meeting weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.
  • Building strong relationships with relational volunteers and volunteer event hosts, having strong 1:1s, and facilitate relational voter contact.
  • Representing Blue Wave America with professionalism at designated events

Qualifications and Desirables:

  • Great interpersonal skills — ability to listen well and communicate effectively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Adept at relationship-building with volunteers and voters.
  • Willingness to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience volunteering or working for campaigns is a plus but it is not required.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle, mobile phone, and laptop.
  • Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals, and electing Democratic candidates.

Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Studies have shown that folks with these backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every requirement. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. We may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.

Blue Wave America is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disability, or any other classification considered discriminatory under applicable law.
