Role Profile

Position: Quality Control Inspector

Job Location: La Porte, TX (Leader Gasket)

Job Type: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Role

This position is typically responsible for performing all QA inspections of outgoing materials.

Responsibilities
  • Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs all QA Inspections of receiving, in-process and outgoing material (gaskets) and verifies the customer requirements, processes and work instructions and applicable standards are met.
  • Understands the Company's Quality Policy and objectives and contribute to their success
  • Perform calibrations at required intervals
  • Know Company procedures and work instructions.
  • Verify appropriate paperwork with the order
  • Complete MERI Inspections, as applicable
  • Identify and record any process nonconformities
  • Ensure all inspection measuring and testing equipment is properly calibrated before each use
  • Complete in-Process Inspection reports
  • Use PMI XRF Analyzer to analyze results of metal material
  • Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements
  • Maintains productivity standards
  • Assists with physical inventory
  • Performs other related duties as required
Skills and Abilities
  • Possess excellent motivation to meet/exceed customer requirements
  • Ability to read and understand Work Orders and Job Sheets.
  • Requires a proficiency in math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in units of measure. Additionally, must be able to perform calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Basic mechanical skills including the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate basic machinery
  • Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Must be able to work independently
  • 1-2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to interact professionally with all employees and customers
  • Ability to work overtime and call-outs (nights and weekends), as required
  • Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis
  • Ability to consistently move throughout facility and customers during the full workday
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn about how our products are produced on equipment
  • Basic Microsoft Excel skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Properly measure with a tape measure
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in QA position in industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance
  • 1-2 years experience using calipers and depth gauges, including calibration of instruments
  • Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills
  • Requires ability to organize and prioritize workload and be able to interact effectively with all types of people in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Gasket experience, a plus
