Art Therapist

Work collaboratively with Hope Academy staff to provide counseling and support services to students within the school. This position helps students attain an optimal level of personal and social adjustment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Human Services field
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field of education, autism, or human services
  • Licensure Requirements: LPC, LSW, LCSW (or in process of completing)
  • Additional licensure/speciality preferred (Art Therapy, Music Therapy, etc)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular and systematic basis and that data guides decisions to improve program effectiveness
  • Prepare and facilitate individual and group counseling sessions as deemed appropriate by the IEP team within Hope Academy and additional services provided through Hope Learning Center.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure that sessions are tailored to students’ identified needs
  • Prepare and facilitate social skills groups
  • Facilitate group sessions within the classroom environment to target the social and emotional well being of all students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercises sound judgment and exhibits strong decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and supporting agencies concerning the needs and abilities of students
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs to continuously update skills
  • Provide consultation and trainings to school districts as requested

  • Act 33 PA Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Act 34 PA State Criminal History Clearance
  • Act 114 FBI Clearance issued by the Dept of Education
  • Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
  • Act 168 from Previous Employers where you came into contact with children
  • State License of Practice and/or Certification
  • CPR/First Aid
  • TB/Physical
