Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified Position Summary: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) will provide comprehensive mental health care to children and adolescents in Gateway Longview’s outpatient clinics, residential and SILP settings. The PNP will assess, diagnose, and manage a range of mental health conditions, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based treatments that support the well-being of patients and their families. This role requires strong clinical skills, a compassionate approach to care, and a commitment to improving the mental health outcomes of children & adolescent populations. Compensation: $120 - $150 per hour, based on experience Hours/Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week, including day & evening hours to accommodate patient needs Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments of children and adolescents presenting with mental health concerns, including taking detailed patient histories, performing mental status exams, and conducting diagnostic evaluations. Diagnose a range of mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Treatment Planning and Management: Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in collaboration with the clinical team, utilizing evidence-based interventions including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and behavioral health strategies. Provide medication management, including prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medications, ensuring safety and efficacy. Using a multidisciplinary approach collaborate with patients and their families to educate them on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with the clinical team, supervisors, school districts and other healthcare professionals, including primary care, to coordinate comprehensive care for Gateway Longview patients. Participate in team meetings and case conferences to ensure a holistic approach to treatment. Refer patients to other specialists or services as necessary, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, or inpatient services. Crisis Intervention: In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team provide crisis intervention services for children and adolescents experiencing acute mental health issues, including safety planning and coordination with emergency services if needed. Offer immediate support and stabilization for patients in distress. Family Support and Education: Engage families in the treatment process, offering education, counseling, and support to help them understand their child’s mental health needs. Facilitate family-centered care by addressing family dynamics and encouraging positive relationships that support mental health. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards governing psychiatric mental health care. Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes to ensure the effectiveness of treatment plans. Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest developments in child and adolescent mental health care through continuing education, professional development, and engagement with relevant clinical research. Participate in mentoring for clinical staff and students within the outpatient mental health clinic. Qualifications: Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. Board certification as a Family or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP). Experience: Preferred minimum of 2-3 years of experience in psychiatric mental health care or a related field. Experience working in a child and adolescent outpatient mental health setting preferred. Knowledge of developmental psychology, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health interventions for children and adolescents. Skills and Abilities: Strong clinical skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating pediatric mental health disorders. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on family-centered care. Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with children and adolescents. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload. Additional Requirements: Required DEA # with preferred Schedules II-V; Specifically Schedule III allowing for OUD treatment and prescription of Buprenorphine. Medicaid ID # Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms. Commitment to providing culturally competent care to diverse patient populations. Working Conditions: This is a 1099 position up to 25 hours per week, split between Gateways 2 main clinics (10 Symphony Circle and 6350 Main St.). In addition to the outpatient patients, the PNP will provide services to Gateway’s residential and SILP youth. The PNP will have a set work schedule that will include day and evening hours to accommodate patient needs. The role requires a balance of independent decision-making and collaborative care with other professionals in a supportive and dynamic environment.
