Position Summary: Work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients under the direction of an RN
  • Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, and ensure proper consent
  • Participate in orientation and evaluation of new personnel
  • Ensure patient medical records contain necessary information
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families
  • Enhance professional growth and development through educational programs
  • Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns in a timely manner
  • Encourage patient participation in their own care
  • Assist with cleaning patient care rooms, equipment, and instruments
  • Identify and assess clinical situations beyond scope and notify a nurse or physician
  • Administer medications and monitor results, excluding IV push medications

Qualifications:

  • Program Graduate from an LPN accredited program
  • Complete Organization IV Education & Training Program
  • No minimum experience required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification required within 30 days
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in NM or reciprocity agreement required

Physical Conditions: Heavy Work

Working conditions: Significantly hazardous environment, limited access to the medication room
