Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. By providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles, we've helped over one million people understand and improve their health.

For us, empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we work to promote work-life balance and ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office. We have offices in San Francisco and San Diego for those who prefer hybrid or office settings and employee hubs, including New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more.

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Firmware Engineer with a passion for innovation in the wearable technology space. If you have a track record of developing cutting-edge firmware and a keen interest in shaping the future of wearable devices, we want you on our team

What you will do:

  • Design and Develop Firmware: Lead the design, development, and optimization of firmware for our next-generation wearable devices, focusing on performance, power efficiency, and scalability.
  • Collaborate on Product Development: Work closely with hardware engineers, product managers, and software teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet our high standards of quality and user experience.
  • Innovate and Improve: Continuously innovate and improve product features and performance, leveraging the latest technologies and methodologies in firmware development.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex firmware issues, ensuring robust, reliable performance across all devices.
  • Contribute to Strategy: Play a key role in strategic decisions related to firmware architecture and technology stack, aligning with our mission to revolutionize the wearable technology industry.

This position is based in San Diego and follows a hybrid work model. We value collaboration and innovation that comes from face-to-face interactions as much as we respect the flexibility and focus that remote work offers. As such, you will be expected to be in the office approximately 3 days a week. This balance is designed to support a cohesive team environment while accommodating personal work styles and commitments.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • 5+ Years of Firmware Development Experience: With a solid foundation in firmware engineering principles and hands-on experience in the wearable or related consumer electronics field.
  • Expertise in C/C++: Proficient in writing high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code in C/C++, with a deep understanding of microcontroller architectures.
  • Experience with BLE and Wireless Communication: Strong background in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and other wireless communication protocols, crucial for wearable technology development.
  • Knowledge of Power Management: Demonstrated experience in power optimization for battery-operated devices, ensuring longevity and efficiency of wearables.
  • Familiarity with Wearable Sensors: Experience integrating and optimizing a variety of sensors commonly used in wearable technology, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and heart rate sensors.
  • Agile Development Practices: Comfortable working in an agile development environment, with excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with teams across different locations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
