Job Summary

**POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED
The Social Worker - Adult Protection/Civil Commitment provides adult protection services to vulnerable adults in Rice County in accordance with Minnesota statue. The position screens and investigates vulnerable adult maltreatment reports, petitions the court for guardianships / conservatorships, and petitions the court for civil commitments. This position provides Rule 25 Assessment and ongoing case management for chemical dependency civil commitments. The Social Worker acts as a Case Manager for those persons who do not receive other case management services. The Social Worker provides training to community members on vulnerable adult statute.
Examples of Duties

  • Completes vulnerable adult assessments and a variety of case management duties associated with vulnerable adults.
  • Conducts mental illness, developmental disabilities and chemical dependency pre-petition screenings for civil commitment. Includes Mentally Ill & Dangerous, Rule 20.01, 20.02 and 20.04 screenings for the courts.
  • Petitions the court for guardianships and conservatorships and monitors the service.
  • Provides Adult Services case management.
  • Attends training sessions and staff/community meetings.
  • Performs crisis intervention as needed.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field and two years' experience working with vulnerable adults, or equivalent. A valid Driver's license required upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working within the court system preferred. Master's degree in Social Work and previous experience as a County Adult Protection Social Worker preferred.

Supplemental Information

HIRING RANGE / UNION: $34.79 - $36.37 per hour / SS Unit - Grade 12

HOURS: Normal working hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
