Boom Truck Operator

This role is classified as safety sensitive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate Boom Truck Safely: Safely drive a boom truck, transporting materials and heavy equipment to various job sites. Ensure all loads are securely fastened and comply with road safety standards.
- Load and Unload Materials: Use the boom or other lifting devices to load and unload materials at construction sites. Ensure that materials are handled properly to avoid damage and maintain site safety.
- Conduct Equipment Inspections: Perform routine checks of the truck, boom, and other lifting equipment before and after each shift to ensure optimal function and compliance with safety regulations.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: Follow all company safety guidelines, including OSHA and DOT regulations, to ensure safe operation of the boom truck. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Coordinate with Site Foreman: Work closely with project managers and site foremen to plan and execute timely deliveries. Ensure the truck and materials are positioned correctly for efficient unloading and minimal disruption to ongoing work.
- Maintain Documentation: Accurately document delivery times, material types, quantities, and other necessary information for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Assist with Site Setup: Help with the placement of materials on the construction site, ensuring that the load is accessible for the crew and ready for use when needed.
- Perform Minor Maintenance: Conduct minor repairs and basic maintenance on the truck and boom equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- Ensure Load Compliance: Ensure that all loads are within legal weight limits and properly balanced before transport. Ensure proper securing of loads to prevent accidents or damage.
- CDL: Class A or Class B required
- Must be able to receive NCCCO Boom Truck Certification within first 60 days of employment
- Travel to and from job sites
- Good communication and interpersonal skills which assist with working closely with co-workers
- Ability to listen to, understand and follow directions so safety is maintained.
- Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
- Functions essential to this position include but are not limited to standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking and lifting heavy objects (50 pounds) during the course of the work day
