We are an Operating Engineers Local 3 contractor and we need safe, smart, dedicated employees who are ready to take on a fulfilling career change as an Asphalt Plant Mixer for Geneva Rock.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the asphalt plant operator, the asphalt plant mixer's primary responsibilities are to ensure the plant follows safety practices, produce material to specification as efficiently as possible, and maintain the asphalt plant.
DUTIES:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the asphalt plant including startup, switching mixes, and shutdown with minimal waste.

Maintain production records, monitor and maintain plant efficiencies, and meet specifications of materials.

Interpret instructions and communicate expectations to asphalt plant crews and scale personnel.

Help with maintenance repairs as well as operate loader, dump truck, and skid steer as needed.

Help unload deliveries, change oil supplies from tanks to ensure correct oil supplier and grade is used in each mix.

Oversee plant cleanliness, maintenance logs, repair work, and plant lubrication schedule.

Organize, plan, and schedule work for downtime, labor and equipment with the asphalt operator/foreman.

Notify operator of additives levels, and order as necessary.

Inspect, maintain, and operate loader in a safe and proper way in order to avoid accidents or undue maintenance or repair work.

Keep plant clean and orderly (manual labor required to clean under belts, etc.).

Comply with asphalt production schedule and maintenance schedule, which will include shiftwork, weekend, and night work.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
-
Forklift/ Manlift experience or ability to get forklift/manlift certification.

Attention and commitment to safety.
-
Basic computer skills.
-
Experience with asphalt plant maintenance and functionality.
-
Ability and willingness to train on WEM Plant Automation controls and operating system.
-
Possess attention to detail, ability to multitask, excellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal, problem solving, and technical skills.

Ability to perform manual labor and move/lift at least 75 pounds.
-
Ability to work graveyard shifts as necessary.
-
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Sitting: Summer - 35% of time, Winter - 5% of the time.

Standing:Summer 65% of the time, Winter is 95% of the time.

Keyboarding:5% of time.

Driving:5% of time.

Weight Lifted:Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. May occasionally lift items above their head.

Physical Movement: May frequently be required to walk over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab and hold objects. Full movement of body required due to amount physical work needed to complete job duties.

Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate well with customers, co-workers, supervision, receive and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements.

Working Conditions:50%-100% of time will be spent working outside in the elements. Must be able to work long and irregular hours (early and late) during the busy season.

Safety while operating tools and equipment is critical to your success in this position.
