Location: Houston Texas (Bellaire Area)

Work Schedule : This is a PRN position and requires a minimum of 1 day per week of work but up to 2 days as needed. Days are not set days each week.

The Nurse Practitioner Specialty (PRN) is responsible for providing for the health care needs of patients in collaboration with a physician, through advanced assessment and identification of health states including abnormal conditions, diagnosing, treatment therapies and/or evaluation. Performs care in a specialty area such as cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, etc. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards to provide direct clinical services for patients within prescribed guidelines and physician instructions.

  • Acts independently to perform physical assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations.

  • Acquires patient health histories and evaluates patient, performing physical examinations.

  • Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients clinical problems and health care needs.

  • Discusses case with physician.

  • Formulates and documents care plan.

  • Prescribes medication, therapies an/or other forms of treatment. Evaluates the patient’s response to therapy.

  • Participates in On-Call program, which may include after-hours, weekend and holiday calls and visitations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • MS in Nursing and minimum of 2 years of related experience with clinical emphasis for nurse practitioner; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Current unrestricted RN license and NP license in Texas required.

  • Certification in a specialty or minimum of 1 year experience in a specialty area, such as cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, etc.

  • Satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position and Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FNP with 2 years of experience preferred.

  • Infusion experience preferred.

  • Direct Patient Care experience.
