Below, you'll find other important information about this position. Assists in the delivery of patient care by transferring equipment/instrumentation during procedures to physicians. Performs a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing and arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies under the direction of a professional registered nurse appropriate to the ages of patients served. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Graduate of an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology EXPERIENCE: 1. Ability to maintain/update the computer competencies as required for the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year of Operating Room scrub experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Perform routine and special nursing procedures as delegated by the professional registered nurse. Secures, sets up and prepares the Operating Room equipment, instruments and supplies. Arranges instruments, tables, stands and other articles in specified order. Adjusts equipment appropriate to the ages of patients served. Provide and assists in meeting the patient's care needs and appropriate to the ages of patients served. Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities. Properly prepares instrumentation following completion of procedures for transport to Central Sterile for reprocessing. Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment. Maintains general cleanliness of unit and restocks appropriately. Reports to Department Director/designee and equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications. Verifies accuracy of sponge/needle and instruments on appropriate record. Performs other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously. Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job. Some independent thought, planning or origination of options and solutions is necessary. Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Additional Job Description: 5 eight-hour days. 7a-330p, 630a-3p and 11a-730p. Call required. Weekends scheduled every 7- 8 weeks apart.
