At Rock Creek Foundation, a subsidiary of The Sante Group, we believe that having a disability and/or a mental illness should not prevent anyone from having the opportunity to participate in everyday life. That's why we have been pioneering the field of behavioral health services for the dually diagnosed. We want to ensure that each person we serve can develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible, in their own communities, and is able to realize his or her potential in ways that they could not do so before. Our committed staff of direct support professionals help drive our mission.
What We're Looking For:
The Rock Creek Foundation is seeking a skilled, part-time Grant Writer to identify, manage, and apply for funding opportunities from private foundations, local governments, and-eventually-federal agencies. This individual will take the lead on writing grant proposals and coordinating the grant application process in collaboration with relevant staff.
The ideal candidate is locally based, highly organized, experienced in healthcare-related fundraising, and has a proven track record of securing state or local funding in the DC area.
What You'll Do:
Grant Writing and Management
• Research and identify new grant opportunities from private foundations, local governments, and federal agencies.
• Write compelling, accurate, and tailored grant proposals that align with funder priorities.
• Oversee up to 12 grants in process at a time, managing deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
• Serve as the project manager for grant applications, collaborating with staff from relevant departments to ensure timely submission of materials.
• Coordinate with the current grant writer to ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity of ongoing projects.
Strategic Collaboration
• Work closely with the Chief of Operations and other team members to align grant applications with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
• Leverage insights from a year-long partnership with a fundraising consultant to refine and strengthen grant applications.
• Provide periodic updates on grant progress and upcoming opportunities.
Future Focus on Federal Grants
• Begin laying the groundwork for future applications to federal funding sources by identifying opportunities and developing relationships with relevant agencies.
What We Require:
• Grant Writing Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, with a focus on private foundations and government funding.
• Sector Expertise: Experience fundraising for healthcare-related organizations and working with diverse communities is required.
• Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with the DC-area funding landscape, including state and local government opportunities.
• Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple grant applications simultaneously and communicate progress effectively.
• Collaboration Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with staff across departments.
• Attention to Detail: Highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver quality work.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with grant management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office.
What You'll Get:
- Schedule: Part Time up to 20 hours per week
- Hourly Rate Range: $50.00- $65
- Potential to go Full Time eventually
- Competitive benefits package including a 403(b) with company match for Full Time employees.
