McCall Road City: Englewood State: FL Country: United States of America Category: Education Employment Status: Part-time Description JOB SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) at the Englewood Clinic is a licensed and experienced clinician who will examine patients, prescribe medicine, and order diagnostics tests. The Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of a licensed physician and assist in overseeing LECOM students. CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician; Contributes to a physician’s efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues; Recommends options and courses of action for patient care; Implements physician directives; Responsible for checking and responding to emails and tasks daily in clinical inbox; Must comply with all state requirements for maintaining licensure (continuing education, etc.); Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories; Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and interpreting test results; Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records; Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections; Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans; Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions; Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies; Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities; Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction; Participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience; Commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and Accept other duties needed/assigned for the practice needs. Must adhere to the ANA code of ethics/guidelines; Knowledge of general medical coding and related information in the field; Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols, at the clinic level; Knowledge of student and patient’s privacy (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA…etc.); Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines; Protect equipment (office, facility…etc.); Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (MS Office Suite [i.e. Word, PowerPoint and Excel]) and accurate data entry skills; Excellent organizational skills; Must be accurate and attentive to detail; Must be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System; Must have great skills in diagnosis and treatment planning; Maintaining an established work schedule; Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy; Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through; Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands; Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials; Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; Be able to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the clinic needs; The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations; The ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM; and The ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education and experience equivalent to: Master’s degree from accredited Nursing program; Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner license required; two to five (2-5) years’ or more of experience practicing preferred.
